Become a volunteer at the 2018 Steampunk NZ Festival
The Steampunk NZ Festival is planned, staffed and run almost entirely by volunteers; there would be no Festival without this amazing team. There are many different volunteering opportunities, calling for a variety of time commitments. Some activities require you to be local to Oamaru, many do not, and we always need a large number of volunteers onsite, during the Festival weekend. Consider whether you are willing to donate an hour or two (perhaps helping to set up a venue), or maybe a longer commitment.
Here are some examples of volunteer activities; email us at contact@steampunk.org.nz if you are interested.
During the Festival:
-
Setup and take down for each event (decorations, furniture, sound system/PA, music, - anything from 30 minutes to a few hours).
-
Covering the door at an event, backstage runner or caterer at the Fashion Show, survey taker, making tea for Tea Dueling, and lots more.
-
“Mentor” / “buddy” for new Steampunks – before and/or during the Festival.
Planning/Organizing the Festival:
-
Writing/updating documentation.
-
PR and Social Media.
-
Steampunk music collection.
-
Research.
-
Surveys and reporting.
-
Coordinating activities such as layout and printing, equipment logistics, and more.
-
Delivering fliers.
-
Children and Youth Outreach.
-
Leading children’s workshops in advance of the Festival.
-
If you live in Oamaru, join a working bee (or several!) making decorations for the Festival Venues.
